Post Birthday World
The Post-Birthday World is Shriver's first novel since 'Kevin' and is written with all the perception, originality and drama that she is known for.   It all hinges on one kiss. Whether Irena McGovern does or does not lean in to a specific pair of lips will determine whether she stays with her disciplined, intellectual partner Lawrence or runs off with Ramsey, a hard-living snooker player. Using a parallel universe structure, we follow Irena's life as it unfolds under the influence of two drastically different men.

have just finished reading The Post-Birthday World and found it to be very entertaining and interesting to read, as I have come to expect from Lionel Shriver. It is a highly readable, intelligent and entertaining book that keeps you wondering whats going to happen next! Ramsey's mockney accent grated on me slightly right until the end when it makes sense that he should speak in such a way. Shriver is a very accomplished writer and I think this book will be very popular.
