Our school says its so the children dont get competative ............ errrrm isnt that what sports are all about ?

Also so the children dont get dissapointed if they lose , well thats sports someone has to lose most of the time (or come 2nd , 3rd etc) and life is full of dissapointments so no point sheilding them from it

My sons school (or old school soon) do sort of competitive sports in their sports day. All the school is put into four teams and then split into groups of 6 and the have to compeat against others and the team with the most points out of the separate groups wins.

and then also they did a 5-aside footie and each were put into teams and played til a final.

But we should have more competitive sports and not nampy pampy the kids into thinking everyones a winner - this doesnt happen in real life

I think it's a good thing, especially with School sports Partnerships involved every child will get a chance. I work for the Aiming High for Disabled Children Programme in our area and sport is one of the biggest gaps for children with additional needs and this will be great as well as bringing back the competitiveness to get better at a sport. You never know they might build a winning world cup team one day (sorry to any gutted fans)
