Its just flu. Flu is horrible, flu is rotten and makes you feel horrid and can be dangerous for certain groups of people like diabetics, old and frail people, young babies people with certain conditions etc. exactly the same as any other strain of flu but at the end of the day its just flu, it makes you feel shite for a week but you get better, its flu. If you're one of the those people in the catagory that gets badly effected by it there is the antiviral drugs and antibiotics for other conditions that might come from it, its flu, its a common winter illness.

the reason for the concern early on was the majority of its victims who died were healthy adults under 45, yes the very group of people who feel crap for a week or 2 and get over it, so if it spread quickly where would that leave the MOST vulnerable that you describe.
I think the widespread media coverage that has gone on has raised awareness, most people are talking about it, they know to get help early on, and are getting antivirals early on, usually general flu sufferers are not given antivirals unless their condition is serious. If there had been no warnings, who knows we may have had more deaths, as a nation I think we are very fortunate that this has been taken serious and dealt with quickly.
Although I am sure there will be many who know better
