Can you tell me if you use OSCommerce or Chain Reaction on any of your sites?

A friend wants to use chain reaction, but just cannot get it to install (says it can't find files, which we know are there etc).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Please?!

I've done loads of OScommerce now Netty but never heard of Chain Reaction - is that Open Source?

Yeah it is (or was) open source.

I think it is OScommerce but with some plug ins already installed ...

Hi Netty,

Does your friend have a webserver that she is installing her website onto that has php/mysql etc? I've found where you can download the install file but she will still need to have an account for hosting that is compatible.

Does that many sense?

Thanks for the suggestions - hubby is going to try it on a test section of one of his sites to see if it is the hosting of the other that is the problem.

I'll let you know ....

Chain Reaction is CRE Loaded isnt it?

Its basically another oscommerce based cart - with some customisation built in. In the same way as Zen Cart.

I've investigated both CRE Loaded and Zen Cart but just keep going back to oscommerce I have to say. The code for them all is as naffly layed out (ie big jumble no functions etc), zen has a very modified backend for customers allowing them to switch elements between the columns for the design etc. But tbh I like the flexibility with oscommerce of the hundreds of contributions and I've hacked it that much I can do what I like with it LOL!

Good points and bad points of all 3 of them really.

Thanks Sadie - yes it is CRE.

Think it was a case of "post and solve" yesterday ... I asked you guys on here and hubby loaded it to test on his site and it sprang to life!

He agrees with you, btw. Said yesterday that he doesn't like it at all! but it is what our friend wants to use ...

Dh is in process of writing his own code, anyway to add to the CMS he has already written, so think this will have to do until he is ready with his own stuff!
