View Full Version : Advice on bringing new cat into home
I am adopting another cat, its me adopting this time rather than the cat adopting me by sneaking in everytime she could until finally someone gave in and fed her , anyway this totally adorable black and white cat is coming to live with us and I was wondering how do i get the two cats introduced without fur flying ?
I think really you're just going to have to let them get on with it. They'll sort themselves out. Good luck!

I agree the best thing to do is to let them get on with it .
I ve have cats given to me and thankfully they all got on with each other!!
Good luck with it:crossfing

I agree too. Im sure there'll be lots of hissing and growling and 'fighting' at first but they will eventually come to an understanding.
You might want to keep them in separate rooms at night and when youre out for the first few days though

When I brought my kitten home I separated him from our other cat for a while (and especially in the night) but they get on ok now (on the whole!) They run around like loonies play fighting and god help anyone who gets in the way!

I just want to add, and I am sure you will, but make sure the new cat knows that it is welcome, as the other cats may not welcome it at first. It needs plenty of fuss. But at the same time make sure you give the other cats plenty of fuss too, so that they all know they are wanted and loved and I am sure in no time they will all get used to each other.

As long as you can! I kept a cat in for a week once and then he got lost! 2 weeks would be best but it depends whether you can manage it as they do their best to escape. And if they don't manage it they drive you so nuts you just want to boot them out!
