View Full Version : my akward diabetic dog.
Back in February my dog was diagnosed with diabetes, I am coping well now with giving her insulin twice daily,(although she now knows it is coming and hides from me) but you can only give it when she has eaten.
She has now for some reason taken a dislike to her feeding bowl and will only eat if you feed her by hand.
Any suggestions? She drinks out of an identical bowl so I really cant understand it.

emm i'm not to sure but have you tried washing the bowl and then putting food in it not saying its dirty or anything its just a thought.

It goes in the dishwasher after every use.
Now if I tip her food on the floor (its dry food) she will eat it. Oh well it better than sitting there hand feeding her.
this is my fussy dog Belle
She's not as fussy as her sister

awww bless she is beautiful maybe its because she associates the food/bowl with the jab (seeing as you have to giive it to her after food) other than that not too sure hun xxxxxx
Think thats it, coz she runs after she's eaten.
I don't have any suggestions but just wanted to say you're dogs are gorgeous.

they are lovely....
do you have to give the jab as soon as she has eaten?? could you not wait a little while, therfore removing the association with food and jab???
btw they are SO lovely....
I can leave them about 15 mins before jabbing, but in the morning I cant wait too long as I need to leave the house around 8ish.
but yp good point.

aww yer dogs are lovely and yeh the leaving the dog after food thing was one of my other ides as well it may help, there no harm in trying things is there, if you dont get anyjoy then maybe phone the vet and see if they have any ideas.
The vet seems to thinks she is doing it for attention ( if thats her paoint then she is certainly succeeding)
