Hi everyone,
hope you're all having a good weekend.
I'm still on maternity leave but trying to slowly build up a bigger online presence ready for when I start back - one of my New Year's resolutions is to make more of social media.
So what is the best way of promoting a facebook page? I only have 6 'likers' so far and 2 of them are related to me! I am bit technologically challenged which doesn't help.
I know some of you are doing really well in this respect so I'd love to hear your tips!
Thank you.

Personally, while FB is good, I'd get over to Twitter and use that also.
on FB find groups/networks and so on similar to what your page is about. Join, post and so on.
Consider using other online social media. Start an online blog, include all the right tags and so on to get traffic. Join business networks.

my blog (www.lactivist.net) feeds to twitter and to the facebook page - I do regular comps on the blog but I am not sure (with the new regs) if I can do facebook giveaways anymore, I used to do random giveaways to one of the people who clicked like on a post for example.
The facebook page is generally pretty vibrant but I am lucky enough to have lots of readers who are all passionate about breastfeeding, and who send me in beautful photos of their kids wearing my t-shirts (I love getting those photos).
I also use the page to check new designs, check site changes, discuss new ideas etc so I keep the customers/readers involved.
If you have anything breastfeeding or gentle parenting related I'd be more than happy to put it on lactivist.net and link back to your facebook page and your site. I've just been looking at your blog and it's a pity that I didn't see your piece about mother and baby earlier, it's a bit long ago now to be going back to it and the PCC made a decision so the book is closed really.
twitter is not much use to me as people want to discuss so I pretty much ignore it.

How often would you say you post on your Facebook site to keep it current?

I've finally built my Facebook page but am finding it difficult to work out how to join groups. I've built my page as an extension of my personal page but when I join groups, I join on my personal profile, so they still can't see my company page - can you tell I'm a bit confused! My question really is, how do I get the people in my group to know about my page or should I have joined differently?
Help!!! :hyper:

Facebook is going to be THE social media platform this year.
My advice is to use your Facebook Fan Page as your hub and send info out from that to Twitter etc.
I've some info here:

which might be useful to have a read through.
My page is http://www.facebook.com/seotrainingclub if you'd like to see how I'm using mine :)

I just wanted to echo Alison's advice. I've read her bit on Facebook on her website and found it really useful!
