I'm with the Alliance & Leicester. They offer free business banking for the first 18 months and free banking thereafter as long as you pay in £1,000 a month. If you don't pay that amount in per month then they charge you fees for credits, cheques etc. Saying that those rates don't appear to be that high compared to other business accounts.

NatWest - free for 18 months and then £3.65 per month for the auto tarif. Free debit/credit card payments, BACS, DD and SO included. You only pay for paying in cheques and cash.

Really loving their service, used them for the old business and now for the new and we have our personal bank accounts with them too.

Is Abbey free all the time?

Barclays. But then that's where my current account is so I didn't bother to look around. Free for the first year I think and then they charge for paying in cheques and cheques that bounce. Not sure what else but the charges don't seem too high. I wasn't very impressed because I was supposed to have a business banking account manager as point of contact if I had any questions. That person seems to have disappeared to another branch. Still haven't received a card or pin number. Must chase up. Overall, Barclays have been fine for me.

Yes - Abbey is free for life but it's online and postal only.

Oh I may look at an Abbey one then as I havent sent up a business account yet. A free one certainly sounds good to me...I tend to post cheques of to my current bank anyway!

I want to switch to co-operative, it's free for fsb members and I'm already with them for my personal account because of their ethical policies. Not got round to it yet.

I'm with Natwest and they are only giving me 12 months for free!! Hmmmm .... not had a great service so far and business advisor is very patronising so already decided to switch once our 12 months were up. I have heard good things about Alliance and Leceister but now I'm going to check our Abbey too - thanks!

If you go with NatWests direct business banking you can negotiate more than 18 months and still get to speak to a business manager.

Well I plumped for Alliance and Leicester and thus far have been great. I've not had it long though :hysterica
