As many of you know I run www.dealingwithdepression.co.uk and I am thinking of getting a logo which can be easily transferred to posters/fb page/twitter/everywhere else... But I have some questions, tbh I'm a bit swamped with thoughts and bits of scribbled on paper with some pretty crappy ideas tbh... So I thought I might ask some experienced people their thoughts...

Questions:

Did you design it yourself or get someone to do it for you?
How did you get your inspiration?
When did you know that it was "the one"?
Do you still love it?

Thanks in advance...

I designed mine myself, but then Daffs polished it for me and made it look so much better

Inspired by the link to the Templar Knights in my company name

Pretty much knew from the start, but once it was "polished" I loved it

Yes I still like it.

Most important thing though, if you are having it done and intent it for print work such as posters is you MUST have it done at print resolution or it will look appalling printed, I see this mistake time and time again in small magazines and such.

I have done all mine myself due to funds tbh, I never had the money when starting out to pay someone to do it for me. But having said that I like my logo now, it took a good few months of playing with different things till I found the one I liked, but I still like it now.

The new website we are having done has a cute logo, but its been paid for I didnt do it as I wanted something I knew I had no chance of drawing! lol But my friend makes website and she told to me look for sites that do stock images and photographs, they are great for making your own banners and logos. I recognise a lot of the artwork on there now from websites Ive visited so lots of people do this.

Be careful with stock image sites though, some (not all) do state in their T&C's that images cannot be used for company logos.

ICE Gems & Single Use Wristbands were done professionally. On the new sites - one doesn't have a logo as such just a top banner and the other was done by me but isn't a patch on the professional ones. Eventually I will get that site done properly including logos but for now it will do.

How did you get your inspiration?
ICE Gems I was quite specific about - I wanted a text based logo within a box - I took inspiration from jewellery brands and I saw they were all text based, no pictures etc so that was the basis for it then I wanted the Gems in a floaty italic font and the ICE quite blocky. I had a few versions of the logo that didn't last very long before this particular designer did it and I was happy.

When did you know that it was "the one"?
It just felt right, gut feeling and all that.

Do you still love it?
Yes I'm happy with it - in retrospect I would probably have chosen different fonts but the logo still looks good on screen and especially on our printed brochures and conveys the right message I think.

Thank you all for your responses! It really helps to talk to people who have been there and done that and can point out pitfalls like checking T&C of stock photos etc..

Thanks, I greatly appreciate it!
