I was sending a parcel through the Post Office yesterday and got asked if it was jewellery. When I said no, I was intrigued and asked why she had mentioned jewellery. She said jewellery was not covered for loss or damage unless sent by Special Delivery. Does that mean then that all jewellery sellers will be sending items via Special Delivery?

It is only precious metals that are not covered by standard delivery. If you send handcrafted jewellery that does not contain precious metals or fashion jewellery, then as long as the cost (to you) does not exceed the covered amount, then you are fine.
