I'm really cheesed off and need some sympathy! :smiley-fa

Client paying me is like blood out of stone. After 2 months of them fobbing me off with 'cheque is in the post' or 'I'll be paying by Nochex', I finally get one this week. Great! ............Yes, bloody great - the wrong name is on the cheque and my bank won't accept it :angry-smi :fryingpan: 20061008

How annoying Daffs. Is it something you can retract ? I bet they did that on purpose just to delay payment arggghhhhh !

Bah, I don't know. I'm phoning around to see if anything can be done or I shall scream and then moan at them for not reading invoice properly and wait again...*drums fingers*

:( how annoying ... like there aren't enough other things to be sorting out - people can be very 'inconsiderate' at times...

Hmmm, maybe you could sell your idea to the Sally Army??

Sorry to hear about your probs, have you got someone who can chase invoices for you? It might help if you oh or someone you know acts as your accounts dept. I used to work or a guy who when business was quite got us to ring around late and slow payers. If they know it's just you then people sometimes take advantage. Hope you get it sorted soon

Hmm, that's what I did to get this out of him! Without Ravenfire aka Strictly Admin, I'd not have got this far even. PITAAAAAAAAAA

I know someone with a baseball bat!!

Could you offer 2 payment rates. 1 for payment within 15 days and 1 for payment within 30 days...?

Hope he pays soon

Glad you got it sorted, Daffs. Still though it's very bad that they put you through all that and also that you had to get strictly admin to help you out in the first place (she's helping me out now with bad client). It's so annoying when these clients don't pay and I totally sympathise with you and share your frustration:angry: . Keep up the good work, at least we have some really good clients that make it all worth it.

isnt it possible to request payment before you carry out the work? ive not had the pleasure of chasing money just yet, i think thats largely to do with people payingup front until i know they can be trusted

That's true! I think I have learned my lesson to at least ask for a deposit before work has started. I have had a few clients who really take the biscuit! I hope you see results (and your money) too!

I have learnt this very valuable lesson! I used to operate under good faith and this client was in a rush to get it live so I did it and uploaded and then one excuse after another... I shouldn't have to demand money up front but unfortunately it is going that way...

Yes Daffs, since January of this year I've started taking 10% of the total fee before I even begin the project (on new projects). So when I do the final quote, I always put that in and do a payment schedule type thingy. Then once I receive the deposit, I begin work. It's been working great so far. Still doesn't mean they pay on time at the end of the project, but at least I get some money upfront which is always helpful. Some projects take ages (on the client side) so it's great to start with something rather than just good faith.:happy72:

DH hates being paid in advance cos it takes away his motivation for getting the job finished  But we can just hang onto their tax returns...
