Hi all

I was hoping someone might be able to help.

A customer Paypalled me for some decorations, on my Payments Received it says "Payment Owed From"...then in the next box the customers name.

Does anyone know what that means exactly or point me in the direction of where I could find out.

Thanks :happy72:

i believe (but ot 100%) that if someone chooses to send you a payment from within paypal (rather than use the integrated function from your website) they are able to choose the type of payment they want to make.

If the select it as a "personal payment" there are a couple of options - one of which i believe is "payment owed" - as in you owe your mate £10 from last night down the pub when you ran short of cash.

You will probably also find that you aren't charged any fees via paypal for this transaction.

If this payment is for goods / services, paypal Ts + C's would suggest they should take 20p + 3.4% of the total. - which you will have bypassed by the mislabelling of the payment.

So it's a bit of "rule bending" and not a practice you should continuously use - but if that is how someone has paid you, i'd just let it go.

Some forums have suggested it can be part of a chargeback, but i think they were going off on a tangent

Thank you goldendelicious, that's very helpful, thanks for taking the time to explain it to me.

Thank you for the info, I would have been confused by that too but I'm sure it's something we'll come across with a Paypal account.

Thanks, Melanie
