Hi everyone

I'm new to the site and just wanted to say hello. I've recently started a website selling gifts for mums to be, new mums and new babies. The plan is that by the time baby number 2 comes along I don't have to go back to work - but how likely that is I don't know (and baby number 2 isn't even on the way yet!).

My site is www.newlittleperson.com

Would love any comments/ feedback/ advice if you have time to look.

I'm just expanding my range to sell babywear bouquets, and nappy cakes which are a bit different, and they seem to be popular but I'd be particularly interested to hear what people think of them.

This forum looks like it's going to be really useful. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

I know, the bottom spray is great - i think you'd probably have to know the person pretty well to buy it for them, but they would definitely love you for ever after!!

Ohh, now a friend of mine mentioned nappy cakes to me a month or so back and I didn't have a clue about what she meant! I shall come a-visiting when she has her baby. She's due next month and want to send her something fab!

Ooh yes do come and let me know and I'll sort out a little something extra special for you!

The nappy cakes do look fab - it's really nice to have gifts that are a bit different and fun, but still useful - you have to have so much stuff when you have a baby you can really do without novelty baby bottles and the like.

Sorry I'm late, been so busy of late I've not been over hear much :( Sorry Toni not abandoned you hon :)

I'm Tash, I'm in the same business as you selling baby gifts and toys and I sell those bouquets too. Will be expanding into nappy cakes too as they've been a plan for a few years but still working on my designs as I want them to be different :) I really wish you the best of luck and hope that it does well for you, it's hard work but so worth it every time a sale comes in it's a big pat on the back and all yours if you know what I mean.

When is your baby due and how old is your first?

Hi Tash

DD is 16 months old now. Can't believe how fast it's gone. Number two is still in the planning stage - but I thought I'd better get on with setting something up before I got pregnant and knackered! Hopefully he or she will arrive about this time next year.

Love your site, how long have you been up and running? And how is business going. It's still fairly quiet for me, but a key priority is to do some work on SEO which I'm clueless about.

It's a really nice business to be in, doing all the baby stuff and mum to be presents - (although I call it gifts and treats for mums to be, because if there are others like me out there they'll have to treat themselves rather than rely on dh or anyone else to think of it!)

Look forward to chatting with you!

It does go fast doesn't it, I remember Thai coming along like it was just the other day and now there are four of the rascles driving me nuts but I love it to pieces and I dread the day when they are all grown up. Maybe one more but that won't be thought about seriously until Dion is at school, would be nice though ;).

I launched officially last June so Stork Gifts is about 10 months old and I didn't do very much until around November when things really picked up. Business is still up and down and it's going to be a couple of years I think until I make enough for any kind of wage but I'm pleased with how it's going :)

You're right SEO is so important, I'm awful at advertising and I get about 99% of my customers from search engines. I'm no expert but if you need any help I can always point you in the right direction of a few good websites about that sort of thing and I'm always happy to help out. And I agree it's the best business to be in, to get to share in the most amazing time in someones life and know their baby will be enjoying the things you send is wonderful. :)

Good luck with the business and good luck with the bump - hope you have lots of fun and it this time next year you'll be pinching your own stock ;)

Tash if you could give me some pointers of just where to start I'd really appreciate it. I've done a search on google, but there's so much stuff out there, I just have no idea where to begin. Any advice would be gratefully received!!!
