Been reading some articles lately about stock turnover and how you need to be very strict about dumping slow selling things as they just act like a weight around your neck.

Both in terms of physically taking up space and thought and also in terms of tying up cash. Ok, you COULD get more for it but if it hasn;t sold by now, are you really likely too? And the cash that you DO get, you can reinvest in stock that will (hopefully) be better sellers and generate more profit for you.

Was interesting reading and has spured me on to star clearing out some of the stuff we have had for a while.

It is not so much that I am shifting stuff that has been around for ages, though I am trying to get rid of the non organic stuff, it is more that orders are pouring in for the first time since last year, which means I am a bit more motivated to get some new designs out - also even though I am making very little, I am at least getting some £ in, I need to clear Lactivist's overdraft before I can order new stuff.

I do think you are right though, and it is not good to have stuff hanging around for a long time!

Feels good, doesn't it! I'm doing similar - getting rid of a load of stuff that has been gathering dust for months. I'm not making any money on it, but at least I'm getting some money back, and it's not cluttering up my space any more :laugh:.

My post office are so going to grumble today. I normally have nice little parcels with Perfect Presents but with the sale at Babies Boutique, the parcels are huge and I have got 2 bin bags full at the moment.

I might have to make 2 trips to the post office :-) I am really happy at the way this sale has gone. I did another 50% sale jus before xmas but it didn't really take off. I think the combination of the fantastic bargains and the short time slot really work.

nothign like a good clear out.I have new deliveries arriving all week and and next week so have a shift around in the front of the shop.Then I am opening one sunday this month and there will be a very big one off sale! I plan to shift all the dead stock in one day, fingers crossed. I shall be reducing the items online bit only making them available to order by telephone, sio I don't need to update site etc.
Have sale rails ready out the back and dumper baskets filled!
Call it feng shui for the shop out with the old and in with the new.
I have streamlined a lot of things, will be ditchign a few suppliers, I did this a while back and it felt good.
Some things I love but they just don't sell.
We also have our own concession starting up somewhere whichis exciting too.
