I've finally finished preparing for my NESTA funding pitch on Friday. I'm pitching for preparing my science mystery kits.
It's been so difficult to condense the project down to 8 minutes without missing something important.
I've been burning the midnight oil for a week, no emailing, forums or Twittering just cash flows and business plans! Think I'm on version 399 now. I'm not changing it again, just printing it out in the morning. Although with my very slow printer, that will take me all day, as there are lots of glossy samples to print out.
Here's a wee sample of what I'm including in my pitch, it's the Ransom Note found at the "Crime" Scene, the kids have to analyse the evidence to solve the mystery. Hope they like the idea enough to fund it, I really want to see this take off.
Night night, it's been a long week. Melanie.

I will still go ahead, it might just take me a bit longer.
I wanted the funding to pay for things like safety testing, prototypes and attending trade fairs - all costly.
I'll just have to start small.
Wish I'd spent those long, long hours on my website instead.
Oh well, that's life.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the funding.
I was thinking of applying for NESTA next year, was it useful? I mean, despite from not getting funding in the end.

Yes, I did get a very useful contact that will help me take this product forward, so that was very worthwhile.
But I am dissapointed that I worked so very hard, for probably far too long on my pitch, when it has resulted in nothing. I was really sure I'd get something, as they've seemed to really like my idea all along.

How annoying that you spent so much time on it. The whole programme seems to be a big investment in time. Thats why i'm not sure about it.
I hope that the contact you made helps you!
