Just typical of them isn't it. The slightest thing that upsets them and it is down tools. I am afraid that I have lost sympathy with them now.

I *never* had any sypathy for them as is well documented! Not when their service levels are poor at best, with of course the exceptions to the rules - our post lady is fabulous but whilst she was off ill recently her replacements were terrible and our lost post shot up hideously! Not a co-incidence imho!

not another one! Service is getting worse also, special deliveries are not arriving before 1pm, some haven't even arrived next day.I am not a happy bunny20061008
I know majority do arrive and on time but we pay for a service and expect ot receive a first class service.Maybe if mistakes and delayts didn't happen they would get more sympathy.

What they've done to postman's pensions is immoral. It may be legal but it's legal theft.
I view the post office as having two very distinct camps. Postman who've been in the job for a long time and really do care about their jobs. Miss the old system and hate the way it's gone.
Then there's the 'them' who've taken over, cahnge everything and look at penny pinching in ways that kipper the service but allow them to turn a profit. Not a long term profit but short term-ist get rich quick so we can sell it.
I see at least three postmen every working day and I like to talk to them. The new ones get no training and are not really keen on it being a long term job as they're not recruiting permanent full time.
I'm not entirely sure that these strikes are warranted. I do understand that people are in the unions making careers for themselves as activists.
As we see the older boys retiring our service will reduce dreadfully.
I know no one agrees with me, but that's OK.:hysterica
edited to say that we get a cracking service so it's difficult for me to hate them.

Am with you Sarah, it's a shame. They shut the Reading depot and moved it to Swindon. So all our post (and most of the vans) take it all to Swindon every night. Has added a day to delivery times. Once I could lob stuff in the post 2nd class and 99% of it arrived next day.

I am trying really hard to support our local post office and the post service in general, but they are slowly killing it and it won't be long before someone comes along to compete with letters and small packets Its just a matter of time sadly

Our local post office is great and I love going there. The postmen we have aren't too bad - I say postmen cause it seems to change every couple of months.
I know the employees have rights and all that, but I think Royal Mail need to sort out the quality of service they are providing. Sometimes it's fab and at other times it's completely awful.
I think they'd have a lot more support from the public if they sorted out the service issues.
