Hi Livvy and welcome to the site. What sort of puppy do you have?
The smaller dogs do tend to jump up more than the larger dogs. We have a Cavalier King Charles and he is just over a year old and still does it now. I have a word "ahh ahh" that I say to him and he has learnt this and know it means he stops now.
With regard to the chewing, does your dog have plenty of toys to play with? What you need to do everytime is take the item away that your dog is chewing and to give it one of its own toys. Whatever you do never give a dog an old shoe or sock to play with as they just dont know the difference between new and old!

The jumping up is easier to resolve than the chewing cos pupppies need to chew, just like kids chew when they are teething. I have just adopted a rescue dog who was very excitable and who jumped up on everyone! we stopped it by ignoring him completely when he jumped, giving a firm "Down" command and turning our backs on him. As soon as his paws hit the floor we showered him in praise, gave a small treat. The Down command should be given quickly as should the praise when he goes down, otherwise they are not sure what they are being praised for! And the other main point, consistency, as a puppy they cant tell that it's ok to jump on one person but not another. (I say this as my dog jumped on my gran yesterday, i told him off less than 5 mins later my lovely daughter was encouraging the dog to jump up on her! Poor confused mut!)
I dont think there's any miracle fixes for chewing, but yea give him plenty things that he can chew. Apparantly if the pup is teething this is a good idea. soak an old towel in water, twist it up (as if you were ringing it out) and pop it in the freezer. once frozen the pup can chew it and it provides some relief from teething pain.
Maybe if he chews while he is on his own, have things too keep him occupied? like hide some small dog biscuits or something around the house, that might keep him amused. or another suggestion i've heard is to get a sterilised hollowed out bone (from a pet store) and fill it with some treats, take it out when you leave and the dog should be kept occupied picking the treats out of it!
hope this helps

like charmeddyke said the jumping is easier to cure than the teething when your puppy jumps up do like a puppy squeel and turn away carry this on and your puppy will get the message, as for teething make sure you puppy has plenty of toys and if he goes to chew you give him the toy instead as for furniture you can buy spray it's not that expensive and that should help

Hiya, I have a Staffie and despite being nearly 5 she still jumps on new guests! We found, as with the children that bribery works best, usually of the doggy treat variety (for the dog, obviously, not the small people - well, usually!) She gets rewarded when she doesn't jump and ignored when she does. As for the chewing, our dog only once chewed and it was the stair carpet! - we tried smearing it with chilli, toothpaste, horseradish sauce, you name it - she loved it, only encouraged her more!!! We bought a "Kong" - you can shove treats inside it (mine loves peanut butter or dairylea) and it keeps them occupied for ages and it's pretty indestructible, even to a staffie! Good luck - as with kids am sure it's a phase and will all be worth it in the end!

You should try not leave the puppy at home for a long time. Try scolding at it when it chews furniture, and then praise it alot when it plays with its toys. To get rid of its bad habits, the best thing to do is praise it very exagerattley when it does good things - really over emphasise it. You may feel like an idiot but it really works. And yes, as someone else said as well, completley ignor it wen it jumps at you, when it settles down and is lying in its bed, YOU go up to it and stroke him - that way your the one in charge and only you decide when you want to say hello to him.
