Hi,
My hard drive has died and has taken along with it my copy of fireworks (that I used for editing photos). :(
I'm wondering what I could use now instead - fireworks & photoshop are so expensive and I really only used it for changing the size of the pictures and putting a border round them. I also need to be able to join photos together to make one big image (if that makes sense!)
Any suggestions?
Thx

I like paint.net (http://www.getpaint.net/), it's pretty similar to photoshop but free :-)

If you are familiar with photoshop then gimpshop is a photoshop skinned version of gimp.
Quite a few of my clients have purchased photoshop elements - its around £30 or so but is an excellent piece of software. Perfect for removing backgrounds / cropping / optimising images for websites.

Have just taken a look at gimpshop - thanks for the info on it. Just a quick question though - how do you purchase photoshop elements?
thanks :happy72:

Pretty much anywhere!
There are a number of people on ebay selling brand new retail wrapped Photoshop Elements, or you can buy it on amazon / play etc.
Infact now that photoshop elements 7 is out you can get a bargain on the previous version which will no doubt do everything you need and more (certainly I know people still using version 3 as it does all they need).
For example
