View Full Version : I love my job!!

I do love it. Yes, it's a PITA at times - it takes up a whole room, and the phone rings at all times of day (not that I always answer it :cheesy:), I can never switch off, and neither can DP, and the kids have to fit round it........
BUT!!!!!!
We were snowed in today - the schools were shut, as they have been all over the country. But I didn't have to ring in work or book childminders so I could go into work. I did try to take the boys to school but was yelled at on the way by my mate to tell me the schools were shut :hysterica
So we came home - the kids played out in the garden, DP and I grunted for a while, but after a productive morning, (and 2 PO trips which DP made because I am merely female and not to be trusted on a good 8 inches.......of snow)....we spent the rest of the afternoon building snowmen, having a huge, epic family snowball fight in the garden and came in red-faced and dripping with snow to find 5 orders had come in :hyper:.
So that's really why I love my job :clapping:
Why do you love your job?? Come on.......share :kisshands:
Similar reasons to you really Dawn. Our schools were closed yesterday and we got to spend the day playing in the snow, going for a walk round the village and then sledging on our local farmer's hill. I did a bit of work here and there during the day but mainly had fun with the kids and caught up once they were in bed. I like the fact that when school's closed or one of my 3 has a bug then I don't have to worry about childcare.
I'm a bit of a night owl and often work late at night - I like being able to work when it suits me and the business rather than working fixed hours. I used to work for a major IT company and I'd hate to go back to the whole corporate clock watching environment.

You're so right - it's nice not to have to panic the minute you can't start work on time or having to run round finding childcare.
I should have been working today but due to having all the children at home I've spent most of the day outside in the snow....I'm putting in a few hours now though. But that's the beauty of being your own boss!!

I still can't believe that we're the only region with no-snow-whatsoever
Well done for all the orders :happy72:

We've no snow to speak of now, a smidgen our side of the park still on the verge and a few trees, but mostly gone. We had a good 4 inches this morning but it never lasts once it's past the end of January. Our field is a quagmire, the park is a sea of mud, and the ford is impassably high (about 4 ft I expect, not been to look but I know these things: there will be someone moaning in next week's paper that their satnav took them that way, do they believe their satnav ALL the time and not read road signs?)
You're not missing anything Anne I promise!

You are so lucky! I am a little behind on posting orders as we've had warnings not to go out in the car unless absolutely necessary. I am waiting on stock arriving but we've had hardly any post this week.
The bin men haven't been, the hospitals have cancelled outpatient appointments and non emergency operations, schools have closed, swiming pools closed and lessons cancelled, MWs will not go to homebirths, etc.

Hi couldn't agree with your more. I love my job for the same reasons. It's flexible and I'm mine own boss, not always so good when I worked most of the weekend. I wouldn't change my job at all. We do have orders stacked up for dispatch as I couldn't get up the lane on Friday. Hopefully we should be able to get out tomorrow.

We had such a fantastic (but tiring!) day on Thursday with the kids off school due to the snow. With both me and DH working from home for the biz we all walked to the park togged up with sledges and spent hours building snowmen and walking up the hills then sledging back down.
A fantastic day was had by all - totally different to a few years ago when DH had to try and get to work anyway and it was just me and the kids!
We've had to do twice as much work today in order to play catch up but it was sooo worth it :)
