Hello, Duncan,
Oh, wow, your story is very inspirational. I'm so pleased that you have found a job in something you enjoy so much and can also help others. You sound like you're fantastic at it as well! I'm so terribly sorry about your little one who was born asleep. It must have been so devastating for you and Val.
Okay, I may as well introduce myself. I'm from rural Devon but live in London with my husband, mainly due to his job. I'm a proud mum of one, James, named after my husband's late father. I had James three weeks and three (no it's 3!) days ago by ceasarean section by it was all terribly worth it!
Currently I'm a mature student (English Literature) but I was close to psychology instead, which I also love. My background is legal secreaty but got sick of office politics and I decided to do something else and to try to go for something I really would enjoy.
I love meeting new people and I'm pretty chatty. Hope to get to know you better.
I really do hope that they renew your contract but, even if they didn't, at least you now have TA experience. Best of luck with it all! :happy72:

Hey there Mister, welcome welcome welcome...now get stuck in! lol
Hi Duncan and welcome to MZ!
Your job is exactly the same as mine (well, before I went on maternity leave) although I also worked as a signer with deaf children. It is men that are increasingly needed in secondary schools as it has been found that the lads respond so much better with a man, especially when working 1:1 or by having a male TA as a mentor.
As much as I love being at home with my baby, I fully intend to go back one day - I do miss my job and although parts of it were incredibly difficult (being pushed down a flight of stairs by an extremely angry young man being one of the worst things to happen during my time there) the rewards far outweigh any negatives.
You sound like you are made for the job and I sincerely hope that your contract is extended.

Hi, welcome!
I'm a mum of one lovely little girl, not married but been with partner for 15 years. I'm a primary school senco, started a year ago so still a lot to learn! Hope your contract gets renewed - i think it's really important to get as many men into schools as possible! We have 4 men including the caretaker out of about 50 staff!
