Has anyone got any recs?
I have a microphone at the moment but is sooo bad i end up ringing customer back on my home landline, not at all professional!
I know Voip are known for the bad/noisy line but i dont really want to spend money on having another line installed (we are on ntl/virginmedia atm) and a monthly charge although i think this is going to be the way forward :(

I have a Philips one sitting here doing nothing if you want to give it a go?
Saying that, I can't say I'd recommend it really due to poor call quality - which is why it is in my drawer and no longer attached to my PC.
I'll bring it along the next time we see each other :cheesy:

Ketty, DH got a broadband router with inbuilt VOIP for my business. It works even if the computer is not switched on. It allows me to have a different phone for the business but not a different line. Once the router has been purchased it is a bit like a PAYG whereas you top up when you have used your credit up but that can take 12 months and it has to be used at least once every 6 months. I don't use it for making calls as they are a little more expensive than when I use 1899 on my home phone. We purchased a cheap BT phone with an answering machine to use with it, so the phone quality is fantastic - just like a normal line. Anything else you want to know, give me a shout.

I use Skype through a netgear phone (could look up the model number if you are interested). It is very clear as long as Skype is working. I had difficulty hearing Alison the other day but generally Skype has been fine for the last 6 months at least. You don't have to have your computer on to use it. Your home phone line can also come through this phone with a different ring tone.

I have a VOIP account with vonage and have done for a couple of years now. I find it excellent. Very occasionally get a 'line is temporarily busy' when trying to dial out but its not a major problem.
It works with or without pc on and has voicemail I can check from anywhere (plus which can be emailed to me as attachments).
I have a bog standard panasonic phone plugged into it and we make all our outgoing calls through it as they are free to any uk geographic number.
