When I get site hits from links in various forum topics, if I simply copy and paste the full URL it never takes me to the post- I always just get an eror message. So sometimes I will try and search on the given forum to try and find what the topic in which I was linked to was, but dont always find it...
Is there a trick Im missing with regards to the URL's that I need to in order to be taken directly to the post...
Does that even make any sense whatsoever!?!

Is the error message telling you that part of the forum is private? or is it a 404 not found type message?

Its always a 404 error message. No matter what forum and what topic. I just copy and paste the url....there must be something I need to change in them though to make it work...

Can you not just click the link instead? Sometimes the link is displayed in a shortened form so you can't copy and paste, you need to right click then copy link location rather than copying using the edit menu in your toolbar.

I've had this problem too. There was one forum I had a link from that I couldn't find the link when I searched so I tried to join the forum so I could search for it. I got a message saying that my account was awaiting activation, but then didn't hear anything else, and that was weeks ago! I mustn't be good enough for them!!
