What time to the post office collect today? Just been to post some parcels out and they said that it wouldn't now be collected until Friday. Damn, one of them was a Special Delivery one too.

Probably 3.30 would be the latest. Our post office shut at 4. I dashed over thinking it was going to shut at 1pm like on christmas eve.

I had totally forgotten that it was New Years Eve until I got to the post office and found that it was early closing. "Doh" Where on earth has this week gone?

Our PO early closes on a Wednesday. As it was I'd been told collection time would be 'as a Saturday' which is normally 11.30-11.45 - so I got in at 10.15ish to bag up the mail (which I'd already prepared the night before), took two orders on the phone and then the postie arrived at 10.35!! A whole half hour before the earliest time I thought he could possibly get there to class the collection time 'as Saturday'. He said there was no way he could come back as he had a list of collections as long as your arm *and* had to be at the vilage post offices at the specified times and he wasn't sure he was going to be able to fit things in, so I had to lug 5 bags of post to the PO. Grrrr.
