I often get e-mails like this, and normally reply with a polite e-mail saying that they will have to bid on the auction. I think it is very cheeky for people to do this, and don't think it is fair on genuine people who are bidding. Also if you take it off you do not have the back up of e-bay if it becomes a private sale.

I'd send him another e-mail and say to bid the price he would like to pay and wait for the auction to end. It he does it again just ignore the e-mail. Unfortuantely, there are some very strange people on e-bay.

ignore it
you could be reported to ebay... could be v unpleasant. I had this when I was selling DH's car. I just ignored them in the end and the car went for double what they had offered me!

Sounds like a weirdo, if he carries on sending e-mails report him to e-bay.
