I've got a big order (for me!) almost ready to post.
I think the value limit is £30 something per parcel for 1st/2nd class post isn't it? So would it be best to split the order into two parcels? or is there a better/safer way to send it?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi, the value of the order needs to be under £36 for 1st or 2nd Class. If you want to be safe the best way is special delivery but it would depend how heavy your parcel is. I no there's a website called parcels2go which have good rates through dhl. We use FedEx but have a regular account, I don't know if they do one offs.

You can pay extra for extra insurance through the Post Office. The Royal Mail website might help. Sorry, don't have time to find the link!!

Normal post is covered up to the value of around £32 so you'll be fine. For extra insurance you could pay an extra 70(ish) pence and have recorded delivery.

Weigh the parcel then use this page to find the prices/options.

Recorded doesn't give you any extra insurance protection over normal post, so I would say value up to £70 split parcel in to two, over that Special Delivery for the extra insurance, only Special Delivery will do this - to £500 or pay more for extra. If parcel is over about 2kg then it's usually cheaper to send as a parcel through PO and pay for extra compensation or to use a bespoke courier or Parcelforce depensing on the rate & where it's going (Islands eg IoWight are MUCH cheaper with Pforce )

Just to mention - if a business claims for a damaged / lost package with Royal Mail, they will only give you the trade value of the items so you may wish to consider that when deciding on the best form of delivery.
