I've just seen the news about a 3 month old boy who died after being beaten and burned by his father and I recognised the block of flats so I looked it up to see what road it was and it was the one we used to back onto in our old flat until 3 years ago. It's less than a mile away from where we're living now.

It shouldn't make any difference where an atrocity like this happens but for some reason it hits home a bit more when you know the area. I just can't begin to think what would make someone do that to his son, or to any child. There was a picture of the little angel on the BBC news page and it just made me cry to see such a beautiful little innocent so tragically taken from this world. I feel sick. :( :( :( :(

I know what you mean. In the house that backs on to mine a man was stabbed in the back by his girlfriend and later died, and I live in a supposedly nice area. Just goes to show it can happen anywhere.

That news story made me sick to the stomach, it was so distressing to hear, he was a monster but I have to say so was the mother for not doing anything and not taking him to get medical treatment 2006argh

But Kathy if that had been happening to your child wouldn't you have done something to stop it? You wouldn't have seen me and my baby for dust!
