The combi boiler says 60 degrees and the control thing in the hallway says 15 and seems to want to stay there even though I have clicked it to go up to 30, does this make any sense to anyone because I have no idea what I am doing!
the radiators are on but it is not warm in the house!

well i have economy 7 radiators, 1 in bedroom at 17-20c, 1 in hallway at 17-20c (its right by bathroom which has no heating) and then a big one in lounge/kitchen/dinning room which is on 2.5-3 setting so isnt hot but keeps the chill off the hair and my cloth bums drying nicely.LOL

My father was aplumber so this a sort of) my specislist subject (watch me talk nonsense now)
60 degrees is the temperature your water is heated to (as it comes out of the taps, into the radiators I couldn't be sure) that's a good temperature for it to be on.
When your house gets to 15 degrees your heating will come on. The thermostat will click when you reach the temperature the house is now if you twiddle the dial. I've lived in houses where that seems to be a completely random number. Just have a play and maybe leave it at clicking point whenit clicks and the house feels chilly enough that you want the heating on.
I may have written that for no reason as you've got it up to 30, er, are your radiators hot right from top to bottom?
eta: forgot to answer the question, ours is set to 18, and it comes on for twp hours in the morning, two in the evening, it's freezing!

My combi boiler (for the hot water) is set at around 64 (its a dial so cant really be certain)
My thermostat for rads is set at 20 at the mo.
I have my heating on a lot - I hate being cold and it's freezing outside. It's usually around 20 degrees in my house if we're in (it's not on while we're sleeping).
I find a lot of heat is lost through front and back doors though, so I hang a large piece of thick fabric up over the front door once everyone is home. And I have the lounge curtains closed as soon as it starts getting dark. These two things make a huge difference to the temp in the house. If it's very cold indoors, I close all the doors so we're not losing heat into the hall and stairways

My heating is on from 5:30 in morning til about 10pm (it goes up and down depending if the house is warm or not)
I too close all curtains when it starts to get dark, we also have insulated walls (free) which I think helps
mine is on about 18, not sure about the boiler thing.

That is really useful, thank you! I need to find the instructions so I can work out how to set the thing to come on in the morning, also there is something I am supposed to turn under the boiler to top it up as it looses pressure but I can't remember which bit.
The radiators are hot from top to bottom, I bleed them every couple of years so that is ok, it is just a drafty house!
