Well i started my new job last Thursday as Hotel Receptionist/reservations for a samlliss (30 rooms) but gawjus hotel!
It's very well renowned around here, first stop for any weddings or posh meals, beauty treatments etc!
Anyway i was rather pleased after my interview and said to Dp..i WANT THAT JOB!
All was going fine....i picked things up really quickly and was left to my own devices on my 4th shift with a Duty Manager and Duty Supervisor meddling around incase i needed them!
I had a room on hold, a guest wanting to check out and i was taking a reservation over the telephone, when the 3rd phone rang..of course i couldn't answer it!
After it quietend down the phone rang. I answered straight away and it was the MD asking why i was missing calss! Before i answered he asked to be put through to someone who i told him was in a meeting..then he asked hwere his PA was (how should i know, she was in her office, but apparently wasn't anymore). So i put him through to Conference and Sales Managerss. Then she put him back through to me! He siad he was sending her across to sit with me as it was my 4th shift i obvioulsy couldn;t cope on my own!
Anyway **** came over and i told her i thought he was rather rude, and that i had done everything in the morning i had to ..all guests were paid and checked out, all reservations i'd recieved had been taken and booked, that was the first call i hadn't been able to answer!
She said not to worry as he is 'like that' and exaggerates everything! He told her he'd been phoning for 30 mins and i hadn't answered his call!
I really though this job was something i would enjoy..i've realised that it may not be forever as i can do it with my eyes closed (all the duty managers keep asking if they can have clone of me as i am a breath of fresh air..which made me feel great, and that i am excellent at picking things up, there's alot to do and i remembered it all!)
He just made me feel like utter shite! I've worked for assholes before, but where would he of been if i had refused to do that shift on my own!??
It's making me feel like i don't want to do Sunday evening shift as that is on my own too!
