I have spent nearly 4 years bending over a low table to pack up parcels. Enough is enough!
Do any of you have any economy solutions to packing tables? I guess it would have to be kitchen surface high to be comortable.
It doesn't have to be that big, just enough room to lay kids t-shirts out for folding.

Wouldn't your ironing board do the job?

Just what I was going to say! I use the ironing board to wrap Christmas presents - it is ingenious!

To iron sarees, my BIL replace the top of the ironing board by a huge board, something like that might work?

You can get little pine folding tables from ASDA, Homebargains or Wilkinsons. Think they are only £4.99.

i use the top of a shelving thing from Ikea - can't remember what it is called but one that looks like lots of cubs together. Space in all the cubby holes for packing materials etc and a good height to stand up at. Not terribly deep though.
The other thing you could use would be one of the butcher's block type units from Ikea - about £50 I think? Like the ones we used to have as the counter in the shop.
If you are going to Ikea...let me know....pretty please - I had to walk out last time as I wanted to hit people...so bad even the 5 year old said time to go mummy..

I have a paste table that I use, it is a good height and doubles as a display table for events.

paste table is about the right depth but far too long, they are useful things anyway though!
I could do with a table I can also stand on so I can reach the highest shelf

I have just bought a 1950's kitchen cupboard for £16 from ebay. It needs tarting up a bit but it has a pull down table leaf and lots of storage room for all my packaging bits & bobs.

Nah, you want to stand on the big roll of cardboard so that you can fall off it when the dog jumps up at you and bang your head on the way down, pulling a shelf full of slings onto you as you go past and try really hard not to land on the dog which means you take all your weight on one wrist which then hurts like buggery so that when you take the dog out for a walk and the little xxxx won't walk you heel and pulls you just want to scream really rude words at it but you can;t cos you have your 5 yo and two friends with you.
Can I report myself to the HSE?

Sounds spookily familiar!
Lisa my packing table is from Ikea, and it's got extendable legs which is ace so if I want a lower surface to sit at I can adjust it. It was in their officey section and the top and legs were separate components iyswim, can't find it on their site though.

I bought one of those library kick steps, the sort you can move along with your feet cos your hands are full, and when you stand on the theory is the wheels disappear under your weight. (In reality you take a flying leap at the stool and it slides along before the wheels tuck up, thus making you drop the boxes)
