Just had the solicitors on the phone......... everything is ready for our move and she wants to know what date we would like to move on:clapping:

After ummming and arhhhhing she suggested next Friday (3rd March) . I know I should have been waiting for the call but how the hell does she expect me to pack up a house in a little over a week???? This isn't set in stone cos she's gonna check with our vendor to make sure this date is ok with them.

Can I have a headless chicken smilie please?

Yep excited and a little nervous.

We are planning to move ourselves, I have some boxes here and will be bringing more home from work tonight.

The funny thing is one of the other girls in work is moving as well and was taking some good boxes home last night, I commented that now she has all the good boxes I bet they phone with a date!!

It's lucky I have a constant supply of boxes or we may have had to buy them from Argos... Has anyone one seen how much they are charging for 20 boxes, £50.

Good Luck with the move Snowy, it is a very quick move-in date which doesn't really give you time to think about but just get on with it! :happy72:

It is 3 months since we sold ours so I was hopeing that we would get a date soon as our buyers were getting a bit nervous but still thought I may have had 3 weeks at the most.

Macroni, I was pretty ruthless when we were getting the house ready for sale but there are drawers with just bits and bobs in that need to be sorted, you know all those bits that you put somewhere just in case you need it one day. I will just have a big box labeled junk and when we move it can go in a cupboard and be like a time capsule.

Ive got a houseful of that stuff and we started from scratch with nothing about 3 1/2 years ago !!

Its better to have a short time otherwise you have to think about how soon you will need something again. You can guarantee that you won't need something until it is packed and the box will be at the bottom of a big pile:hysterica We got cardboard boxes from a removals firm {big strong boxes worked out about £1 each} and it was worth it to know that the bottom wouldn't fall out as it was carreid down the path. We also bought load of boxes with lids from Ikea (£2 for 2 reasonalby sized boxes} for things which we would need like kitchen stuff so it was easy to just take the lid off and have a rummage and they were great for storage in the loft afterwards.

Good Luck :clapping:

Thanks for all the good wishes.

The solicitor phoned a day later and said that someone in the chain has a baby due on 6th March and they think it will to close to the moving date so can we change it to mid March.

Im not sure if they think that moving with a small baby will be easier or that she will be one of the people who have their baby bang on the due date.

So moving has been put off and we still don't have a definate date:hissyfit: :hissyfit: 20061008

urgh, surely it would be better for them to move as planned before baby is due, you know what wil happen know, the womans baby will be overdue. good luck and we may even both end up moving at the same time, our solicitor has said it could possibly be in 2 weeks time for us

I have packed a box of books and some of the kids toys and thats about it.

Can't get motivated when I have no clue when we are going. Dh is doing lots of huffing and puffing about telling the solicitor that we will pull out but I can't be doing with it.

Just be patient, think we're a week behind now b/c the building society put down the wrong solicitor on the loan offer, looks like 3rd time they got it right
