View Full Version : Thinking of changing to EKM Powershop?

Can anyone help. I'm still not entirely happy with my website and have been deliberating whether to change to EKM Powershop. I have a couple of questions. If you use EKM powershop do you have to do much SEO work or is the site SEO friendly from the start. The URL's look SEO friendly.
Do you know if you can upload to Ciao and similar shopping networks?
Has anyone had any glitches that i should be aware of? Any hints or tips would be much appreciated.

Hi
EKM is VERY SEO friendly.
I have no idea about uploading to other shopping networks though.......if you have a look at the EKM Community forum, then I'm sure you'll get all the answers you need, plus more :happy72:.

Hi
I'm with ekm and tbh right now I honestly hand on heart can't recommend them. There seem to be a lot of glitches with the system right now, many they say they are putting right but if it wasn't for the time of year being so crucial I would have moved away from them.
The glitches have occurred since they put in place a big upgrade and they left the system riddled with little bugs - some are sorted and others aren't and some we have had to implement our own fix at a big cost to ourselves - for example, we had to move away from paypal pro because the system no longer worked with it, we had to purchase a bulk print software because that also didn't work properly when they implemented it, there are glitches with the stock control and also with the product varients plus about half a dozen other issues.
I have been emailing their support and MD about them regularly and in fairness they are getting some of the glitches fixed but there seems to be more arising daily right now.
On the plus side they are very very seo friendly and can be very easily customised.

Nadine,
I seem to be blissfully unaware of all these problems :cheesy:.
Granted, I don't use the stock control (I have too many individual items that are also in other products, so it wouldn't work anyway and it's far easier to knock them off a spreadsheet), I don't use product varients, or bulk printing - for invoices and packing slips I use the html versions - I prefer not to download the customised ones because BT charge me every time and I object to his, seeing as I can clip a business card on anyway :happy72:
I DO use PayPal Pro, however, and have had no problems as such - are you referring to the fact that if the customer chooses PayPal, it defers to PayPal Express and the customer then can't fill in the extra checkout fields? I switched to normal PayPal and used the EKM server for a while because of this, and had to switch back to PayPal Pro because people were entering Amex card details, and PayPal Pro don't take these.......so if a person uses standard PayPal these days, I just send their order as soon as I can.........
Is there something I'm missing?

Generally if you don't use product variants, you don't "force" people to select their postage option at checkout, you don't use paypal pro, you don't use stock control, you don't use the order notes on the reverse, you don't bulk print and you don't send out personalised products, you should be ok!!
It is literally the updates that have thrown everything out. I am sure that once they implement fixes for these things it will be great again, they just seem to be rolling out more and more updates without fixing the bugs in the ones that they have. The ekm forum makes interesting reading (well the posts that aren't edited away that is).

I do the 2 in red, but not the others, and so far, no glitches. I'm about to think about adding "related products" - this seems to work ok.
I've not been to the forum for ages - will pop along for a read later :happy72:.
