Do any of you lovely girls who use couriers have any recomendations for which one would be capable of getting a rather heavy box about the size of an ordinary tv and about that weight too, ie liftable by a bloke or strong girl, from Manchester to me, yes I have brought my kiln. :hyper::hyper::hyper: Am thinking it will be cheaper to courier it than drive up and collect it.

Thanks

Sorry I don't know of any Kate. I tend to use either Royal Mail or Staples who are really good but only insure up to £100.

Whereabouts in Manchester is it?

Congratulations on getting it. How is the new business taking off?

Not sure the address of it yet as I've only just contacted her and brought it, well not paid but you know what I mean. The other business isn't going anywhere right now due to a certain tiny new baby arriving but now I have my own kiln I can work out the annealing temps and times for the beads as I've had a bit of a cracking time with some of the ones I had annealed for me, thankfully I havn't sold any yet which is lucky. Still in the pipe line though Alison.

When I had to send a large canvas I used www.interparcel.com

They were excellent and their rates were reasonable and they picked up from my home. Don't know if they'd courier the heavy weight, but they're worth a try.

TBH, I'd collect it myself if I were you. Or you could contact some of the local to you van courier firms and say you have a non urgent parcel to collect from Manchester next time they have a van delivering up there, so would pay for a return journey. To send the weight of a kiln I'd estimate would be about £60-75 by courier - and would you trust them not to break it?
If it can wait, I'm probably going to Sandbach in 3 weeks time, so may be able to pick it up...been dying to come and watch you make beads

Parcel Tree will do it - they use DHL and anything up to 120x60x60 is £6.99 for next day delivery. Or their Diamond service which insures up to £500 and delivers by 10am next day is around £20. The max weight is 32kg for the normal service, may be more for Diamond.

I've never had a problem with them, I think they're fab!

I use interparcel too, and think they are fab. As long as it doesn't weigh over 30kg or is over the max size they take it should be fine. Alternatively as has been suggested either hire your own van and go or get a man with van to collect for you.

Just found out its only 17kg so not even as heavy as a bag of chicken feed which I lug from the shop to the car myself then into the house, so hoping it might be cheaper than I thought.
