anyone know how to check for search engine ranking

I have had my website for just over a year now and really would expect things to be generally busier!

So.... my question is - does anybody know how you can check your search engine rankings and how do you get higher?

The only problem with most of these ( including page rank) is that the lok at how well you are rated on , for example, google not google.co.uk , which is abit of a pain if you are aiming for a UK audience.

Just to let you know you can submit your site more than once as well. You could do it once a week or once a month

Cant believe that google takes so long to rank your page. I have had loads of search engine bots on but not sure when they update!

I have been told that you dont really need to submit your site that google finds you anyway, but Ive given mine a helping hand and it definitely does help..lol

The best way to check your rankings is to type in your keyphrases and see where you are really lol!

There are programmes that do it for you, the free ones I've come across havent been that useful and the paid for ones are IMO too expensive. but if anyone has come across a decent one do lmk!

The Page rank etc does not show you what your rankings are for specific keyphrases and words. My page rank is 5, yet my site ranks number 1 & 2 for my main targetted keyphrase.
