Well, actually only one of the rings. I wondered if anyone might have a bright idea as to how I can fix it before dh comes home and gives me that "you are so useless" look.
I broke it when I was trying to do deep fried okra. I haven't done this recipe before, and haven't done any deep frying before. I think I had the oil a bit hot, as when I put the okra into the oil it sort of boiled over (a lot) so I ended up with a pool of oil all over the top of the hob. I've cleaned it all up, but now that gas ring won't light. I can get it to light with a lighter, and it then burns for a little while (although making a sort of angry spitting noise) and then it goes out. I presume the oil has got into somewhere that is shouldn't go. I thought if I kept lighting it it would eventually burn the oil off, but this doesn't seem to be happening.
Any ideas?
