How did you find your wedding photographer?

Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate if you could tell me where/how you found your wedding photographer. I am not sure how to best go about marketing my photography and finding out where other people found their photographers would be a great help.

I found ours in Yellow Pages!

Picked out a few names, gave them all a call, met with a few and went with who we 'liked' best

Actually a friend spotted their post on mse! They had just graduated and wanted a wedding to add to their portfolios! They were lovely and free! pmsl!

I put word of mouth - but actually it was the same photographer as my sister had (2 years previous), it was funny because though he didnt know us when he showed us his work, some of the pictures were of my sisters wedding.

I have put photographers shop window. It was someone local to where DH lived. Someone I knew was a photographer but he wasn't available at the time, so we decided to go to this one near where DH used to live.

We found our photographer in the leaflet that was given to us at the register office when we booked the wedding.

I think we found ours in the local paper - probably a wedding promotion.

At a wedding fayre, most of them were out of this world prices but he was very reasonable (idea for a second wedding) because you realise they only get stuck away in a drawer somewhere if you pay thousands for them or 100.

Oh how awful! Sounds like he was in the wrong job. I think it is such a privilege to be a wedding photographer, couples really put a lot of trust in you to do a good job and get on with people and make the photography enjoyable.

Thank you again for all your replies. Looks like recommendation is the key. Just have to hope some of the guests at the weddings I have done actually get married themselves soon and remember me.
