Today a friend came to the stables to show her kids the ponies. We have known her for sometime, she is lovely and her kids are great.

She has owned ponies in the past and is looking to get one for her little girl, just on loan for now but plans to buy one later on. Anyway we talked a little about her loaning my daughters sheltie two or three days a week in exchange for her putting towards his keep....a sort of share thing.

I think I would go for it as DD is at her dads most weekends and the pony loves fuss and would benefit from it. I suggested she visit a while first to see how they get on (shelties arent everyones cup of tea but he is good) and if it works we can sort it out.

Thing is he doesn't cost much so what sort of cost should I look at? His rent is just 30 a month, he costs nothing food wise and he only has his wormers and trims (prob about another 20 every couple of months). I would let her do it for free but I could do with a bit towards his keep really. Would 15 a month be too much?

I agree - and I am sure they will think it reasonable. Just think what a riding stables would charge for a few hours riding ....

Sounds good to me. I used to have horses so I know how much they can cost. Ooooh if only I had some land and some money...............

It does sound reasonable. It is a brilliant idea as well as both parties benefit and the lady does not have to go the expense of buying a pony etc until she is sure that her daughter will take to it. :happy72:
