I work for Co-operative travel and we are encouraged to do work for our local community and support local charities, so far this year i have raised nearly £2000 for our local hospice (kirkwood hospice) and have to say the satisfaction and good feeling i get from it is over-whelming, which is making me want to do more for them, does anyone do volunteer work, charity shops or anything else, i can only spare a couple of hours a week as already work full time, but really want to do something, any of your experiences please tell me! thanks

I volunteer running a local scout group. I also volunteer in school!

I volunteer for the school charity group raising funds towards equipment, days out etc for the children.
I find it great fun if sometimes a little tiring as I often spend just as much time as the children at school lol.

I would really like to be able to commit more time for charitable work, but at the present time things are far too hectic to take on another commitment.
So, I try to do one off's - I have organised a coffee morning for Yummy Mummy week next week to help raise some pennies!
How about the Samaritans? They look for volunteers and ask for a min of 3/4 hours per week - although you do have to go to one of their Centres and train.

Thanks given me some good ideas. there was another post similar which gave a website for work in your local area and there are loads, given me lots of ideas of what would suit me and my personality, liking the idea of 'befreinding' there seems lots of that in my area from young children to the older generation. Thanks everyone still post if you have any other input, please.....
