I'm trying to get a quote for buildings and contents insurance, but virtually every insurance company I try won't cover you if you work at home unless all you do is office work. Which insurance company can you recommend?

I'm not sure, I'll find my policy later when I've finished feeding DD. I did a search for insurance using Quidco the phoned the insurers that came top and enquired about the business. Many refused to insure me but the one I went with also covered my stock.

I've just spent all this week in an insurance-search induced nightmare!
Finally got a good deal through Blackfriars, and their customer service was good too -ie they chased up quotes and phoned me when they said they would. They offer work at home insurance either with or without home contents (I have home insurance elsewhere, so just went for personal/product liability, trade fairs, stock and sales in the EU/Oz, although sales to US were also offered for a good rate).
Direct Line were rubbish, faffed around then refused to offer me insurance, and Simply Business cut me off after 20 mins on the phone, didn't call me when they said they would, and then sent an email telling me my 'landlord insurance' (what?!) was due for renewal. :ac39:

Try your bank, when I was at home I had an HSBC Homeworkers policy.

I asked for a quote from Blackfriars and they said they only insured businesses that sold through craft fairs. They would not offer me a quote as I also sold via the internet.
I am with HSBC at the moment - mainly as they are the only ones that will insure me!!! I keep getting refused as many of my goods are handcrafted and I can not confirm that the producer / supplier has product liability insurance.

I already have business insurance with Direct Line. It is insurance for the buildings and contents I am looking for, but most policies exclude you if you work from home.
