Does anyone else do bits n bobs tea, our is it just me.

If the kids ask whats for tea and I say that they get all excited. Its normally when the freezer is running low and its close to dh pay day, we have the part packets of food that are left, served up on a tray and everyone helps themselves. The kids tend to eat more this way then when I serve straight onto their plates.

Think it stems from when me and dh only brought home a £100 a week between us to live on. So we often had bits n bobs teas.

Yeah we do that!! Only Megan calls it a picnic!! & the really annoying thing is she clears her plate!!!! Which never happens normally (except with a bit of bribery!)

we had a bits and bobs tea the other night, money is tight at the moment as we're buying a house, so i found lots of mini sausage rolls and mini pizzas i had hiding in the freezer, cooked them and made some cheesy pasta to go with it

Sounds a great idea, one I will be trying. I was only moaning last night about having to cook tea every night. DO children really need feeding *every* day? Sometimes get fed up with the sameness of it.

they are 9 and 6. They are quite good, they do help a bit, but still a bit young to send them to the supermarket to buy all the food

They will help with peeling veg and setting the table but if we had a bits and bobs tea they could pretty much help themselves and give me a night off.

:hysterica And to add insult to injury they go and grow as well.

This sounds like a good idea. Should have thought of this on Friday, I just emptied everything that was open with just a couple left in the bin. I also found a jam roly poly pudding that would have just about been old enough to start nursery. Do not know where that came from because the freezer was new when we moved here 18 months ago!!

Oh bless her, it's the really simple things that make them so happy isn't it.

Mine love it when I put cheese and crackers and fruit and raisins and and all sorts of bits and pieces on a large plate for them, they think it's like having a buffet tea.
