DD was fine in her nappies but all of a sudden they are leaking. Yesterday and this morning she kept getting a wet patch above the waist band near her side/back.

Twice this evening she has done an explosive poo and the leg has leaked, she has ended up with poo down to her feet.

I'm using different nappies and wraps so it isn't one type causing the problem. Any ideas? She is four weeks now and 7lb 9oz if that is relevant.

I am almost out of clothes for her and am using up some dispoables as I don't have a clean wrap. I had a load of her whites on the line that got caught in torrential rain so i had to wash them again. The heating isn't on yet so the nappies are taking forever to dry. I could tumble dry them but that would defeat the object of using them.

I am wondering how i am going to cope with all our washingh over the winter.

Oh poo I just typed a really comprehensive reply and then this cr@ppy computer lost it. I'm on an awful antiquated lap top with appalling internet connection so I'll try again later. Hope someone else helps in the meantime to save me having to type so much. LOL

You can try using a liner and not folding it, leave it so it sticks out under the legs and when the nappy is on you tuck it in. You can do that with the nappies themselves too, it will form a thicker layer around the leak points. I tried to find a picture but I cou;dn't this is the closest I could get http://www.kittykins.co.uk/advice/id/23 if you look at the last picture, the bit that is shaded as number 8 is the bit you can fold back on itself and tuck in, you can do that with lots of different makes of nappies, not just terry squares.
How do your nappies fasten? Is there a way you can adjust the fit around the legs by angling the tabs?
She is possibly starting a growth spurt - you are breastfeeding arn't you? She will start to drink more and more from you and what she is doing is triggering your milk change in nutritional value - which means her poo will change a bit too. Also things like teeth murmering around can change poos.

I have diddy diapers/micro diddy nappies with a nappy nipper and Tots Bots Flexi with velcro. I'm using fleece liners - the rectangular Tots Bots and some hour glass shaped.

I don't understand the wee leaks from the top as the wraps (Pul with velcro fastening) all cover the nappy completely. The poo leaks from the legs are more likely to happen as the nappy and wrap sometimes appears loose at the leg but I can't seem to rectify that although the leaking has only just started.

Emergency idea - rip an old towel up into squares, the same width as the length of the liners, use them as liners under your normal ones and tuck in all the spare fabric to create a seal around the legs. This will also give you extra absorbency.

Or use a muslin square folded as a terry kite inside your normal nappy. You won't need to fasten it as the nappy will hold it in place.

I think it is a bit easier with boys cos you know they are generally going to wee up the front but girls are different - It may be that because of her age she is going through a heavy weeing period but that will level out.

The diddy diaper looks like the fabric will tuck back on itself around the legs nicely - are you using a nappy nippa to hold them in place or relying on the wrap? I just found a nappy nippa (slightly felt tip pen stained but in working order!) if you want one.

The tots looks very high in the leg, so I can imagine that might leak there.
