As a general rule I dont but I fell foul of this over the weekend when I put on a new tshirt from Asda .

I kept getting a nasty whiff, but it took me 2 hours :sign07:to realise it was me, or rather my tshirt, that stunk of BO !!

Its making my skin crawl just thinking about it !!

I had to have another shower as the stentch had really settled itself onto my skin:no:

I would take it back and complain.

I never wash anything first because I thought if you did then you took it back because there was a problem they mite not refund you as it had been washed which gives the impression you have worn it.

Eewwww!!! thats horroble Toni!
I dont wash things 1st,same reason as Kerrimouse...& I agree that u should take it back, only prob they'll prob think it was U that made it whiff in the 1st place!
Only way round it is if u ring the store 1st & ask where u stand in this case

I knew there was a good reason I never washed stuff lol

It was only £3 and its not worth the hassle taking it back. Its washed and smells lovely now.

I guess they cant smell every item thats been tried on to see if does stink

I never wash things when I buy them as I always think they look their best before they've been washed iykwim. Will certainly be giving them the sniff test in future though.

I'd certainly take it back and complain about it though, I've found dirty things on hangers before and also worn shoes and they staff say that they have people who take things into the changing rooms and change into the new item and leave the old one behind. Yuk

i would take it back and complain or at least write to the store. They are usually quite good about this sort of thing and will probably offer you a voucher as apology

Good luck

i will certainly be smelling things before i take it from the shop but i always wash things in case they have been warn by someone who smells

Oh no Macaroni! What a terrible thing to happen! You're lucky you just "inherited" a BO, not a skin disease of some sort. Glad it's all sorted out now (I'm sure you gave it a good dose of detergent!).

As a general rule I will ALWAYS wash all newly-bought clothes (after confirming that they fit well etc) in particular underwear and clothes for babies. I wash clothes that come in plastic wrappers which no one has ever opened in the shop before. I even wash tailor-made clothes (or ask the tailor to wash for me) before wearing them. This applies for mine, DH's and DS's clothes.

The reason behind this is I have been to garment factories and I have seen raw fabric and half-completed clothes being thrown/passed around and you're not sure where they have been really before being nicely folded and pressed and sent to the store ready for you to buy.

I don't wash anything either and as you say it's not worth taking back if it only cost £3 and you've washed it and are happy with it. If you were not able to get rid of the smell I would have suggested taking it back, but as you quite rightly say Asda can't sniff everything they sell!
I think their clothes are such great value, I bought a pair of really trendy sporty trainers for my son the other day (size 6!!!) and they cost me £4!!

I do if it's heavily dyed. Usually no.

No I dont wash new clothes, have more than enough on keeping up with the amount of washing anyway.

But that is really horrible. I will definitely be having a good smell before I buy any new clothes
