Can I have constructive feedback please - new site design

I would welcome any constructive feedback you have on www.icegems.co.uk - the product pages are still being tweaked as I type to standardise fonts, etc.

The site has been redesigned as I wanted a more contemporary "jewellery" feel in line with new brands and product ranges I'll be adding for Christmas (due in very shortly). I feel that he has captured what I wanted perfectly. It feels like a real "coming of age"!

Yes, the home page is the same, the category and product pages have been formatted differently.

My only critisism is that the black and grey backgrounds next to each other create an optical illusion that they are not aligned properly, that the grey is lower.

Thanks for that feedback, it took me a while to work out which backgrounds but I know where you mean now.

They look aligned to me but I wonder if anyone else feels that way??

We will be putting an overall background around the whole site eventually so that may well eliminate that problem, I'll definately mention it to Jamie though.

two things, the white text on the black background I find very hard to read

also, in HTML it is possible to restrict the amount of text that can be entered into a text field using the maxlength attribute, it might be an idea to do that on the fields where you only want them to enter the maximum of 25 characters etc. for the engraving

Thanks re the black on white, I think we will change all that to yellow, I've been unsure about it!

Re the engraving this has been a major major major bugbear of mine since I joined EKM, it isn't html it is part of their asp coding and an ekm tag that we can't adjust HOWEVER I have just paid for a fix and so they are designing some coding that I can insert into the product that will limit the engraving, it has only taken me 16 months and so much prodding, niggling and arguing with them to get it to this stage! I'm hoping to have the code this week, you have no idea how fantastic it will be - it is our biggest headache - we even had one customer put 98 characters on a line a few weeks ago and virtually every other order has more than the 25 characters, it really is a nightmare for us.
