oldest son (12.5) had it for around 24 hours, I had it for longer (48 hours) but I wasnt actually ill, just felt like I was going to be for 2 days!

DP had it for 24 hours.

youngest son (fingers crossed) hasnt had it at all and wont!

Friend's children had it 24 hours.

So for young fit and healthy people I'd say 24 hours.

For old and unfit hags (ie. me), I'd say longer lol!

This seems to have hit the whole country - schools have had to be closed because of it, there was an article in the paper yesterday saying that even though it goes after a couple or three days, take another couple of days of school to make sure it has gone as this is how it is being spread.

Hope your little ones feel better soon :crossfing - being sick has to be one of the worse things.

Thanks everyone.

DD2 and DH are feeling better this morning although still in bed with sore tummies. DD1 is off school as well as she had no sleep last night but she didnt want to go back to bed and has been an angel for me and looked after dd3 whilst I had a nap!

it's good to hear that they are on the mend....

Stay in and put your feet up and don't overdo it

We've not got in here yet but it seems like it's getting closer. Really dreading it . Ds has a nasty viral rash at the mo so could do with that going before we get the s & d.

Still we have a lovely big tumble dryer ready for drying sheets

not sure where you people are from, but here in Surrey many schools are rife with the bug. Luckily my two havent yet caught it.... (touch wood) but no doubt it will hit them at some point but what can you do? thoughts of sending them to school in gas masks come to mind...hehe

Think there is a school (or two?) in Birmingham that actually had to close due to the sickness bug.

Its called Novovirus - remember there was a whole sealiner last year of people who had it? My SIL works for social services and part of her job is arranging aftercare for people who have been in hospital, she was called in just after christmas for a big meeting as it was rife at both local hospitals and they were having to cancel operations and close wards because of it.
A friend and 8 members of her family were struck down by it at the same time. Her mum and sister both got it and they work for WRVS in one of the hospitals but no one mentioned to them that they were working in the middle of an epidemic. :crossfing Not wanting to tempt fate but we seems to have avoided it up to now.
