Hello everyone.

I'm not really sure what to say here, but here goes.

My name is Nicola, I am 29 years old (one more year till 30!) and a stay at home mother to two wonderful *cough* daughters.

Anastasia Leanne is 10 years old and has autistic spectrum disorder. She attends a local special school and drives me completely batty during the school holidays, but then if she didn't she would be our Ana. Currently she is banned from the computer for telling her sister she was adopted. Please, make the whinging stop! *rocks back and forth slowly*

Amy Louise Daisy is coming up to 2 1/2 but going on sixteen. Amy rules the world, everything is hers and hers alone and she must have things all her own way at all times. Of course this tends to cause many a tantrum, but over years of excessive aversion therapy I have learnt to block out the screams (mostly). Amy has a bizarre and over powering fear of hand dryers.

We all live in a three bedroom house in the south east of England with my longer suffering (but rarely in silence) husband Vincent. We share our home with Shen the dog, Thomas the cat, Honey and Mustard the rabbits, Izzy and Missy the parrots and most recently Charlie and Lola the fish. Yes, I am the one in the family that is animal mad. At least they don't whinge or bicker or fight (expect the dog and cat) or even cry MUM, MUM, MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM SHE'S TOUCHING ME!

I love the outdoors, but recently over these holidays I have forgotten what it looks like. *Curses the weather* I am also studying Shotokan karate and so far I an 7th kyu (red belt).

Well I guess that is all I can add for now, that and. How do you put I signature on your posts? I cannot find the signature heading in the User CP.

xx

Thank you again everyone for the warm welcomes :D

My children are currently eating me out of house and home at the moment. My vocab has now deminished to

'Whatever!'
'Have a biscuit/packet of crisps/apple/carrot/banana'
'STOP IT'
'Leave your sister ALONE!'
and
'Go away you're giving me a headache!'

Maybe it's the rose tinted specticles of youth, but I cannot remember the summer holidays lasting nearly as long and I am sure I never fought with my siblings as much as my pair do.

You are so definitely going to fit in here! My daughter who's 11 actually complained yesterday that SHE THINKS the summer holiday is far too long! When do they go back to school by you? Ours go back on 3 September - 13 days and counting.........:kisshands:

4th September here. It cannot come quick enough.

Having ASD Ana my eldest gets respite care druing the school holidays. Social Services pays for one session a week at a playscheme for special needs children. You can of course pay for futher sessions, but at £25 a day we just cannot afford it. I wouldn't be so bad if the weather wasn't so dire. I had loads of free fun things planned.

I had this very conversation with my SIL (who's a teacher and thinks the hols should be longer!!) about the kids being bored and it being the fault of the weather/credit crunch etc.

Whereabouts in Berks are you?

We're in Maidenhead, which compounds the fact that the kids have nothing to do.

I've had enough of bobbing about in the local swimming baths and Ana is now too tall for Cheeky Charlie's soft play centre. Who for reasons known only to themselves have slapped a 4' 10" hight restriction on entry.

We have plenty of parks near by, but have been unable to use them.

Hi and welcome Nicola,
My 3 girls argue loads too. We've just got back from 2 weeks in Spain with fantastic weather and I'm hoping we won't have to be cooped up in the house for too much over the next week and a bit.
I remember my sister telling me that she was the only planned one out of us 3sisters so Mum and Dad must have wanted her more! Also my youngest daughter used to freak out if someone switched a handdryer on - she's 5 now and must have grown out of it a while ago but I'd forgotten about it until you mentioned it!

Hi and welcome. We used to live in Langley, Berks before we emigrated. My mental age is also currently deteriorating too. My DS -12 and dd -9 don't go back until 12th and 9th Sept. DH is back in UK for two weeks from Sun. So a testing 2 weeks to come. Please send me your rain. I'll swap my 38 degrees for anything at the mo.

Thank you for the warm welcomes. We have now entered that time of the day (a hour before DH finishes work) where I generally attempt to hide and or avoid the children.

Amy has taken to bashing everything with a toy hammer and by the sounds of it Ana is trying to comune with either bats or the neightbour dogs.

Why is it that last hour always seems the worst.

Anyway chill sausage casserole and mash for tea tonight. Yummy!
