Hello,

For those of you that sell jewellery - I'm just wondering how you store it? So far we've managed with using a sealed tupperware container or two (depends how much stock we have in at the time) but that isn't going to work any longer so I'm looking for some other ideas that aren't expensive. LOL

Not had to do it myself, but I know someone who keeps it all in envelopes in a filing box - easy to write on the envelopes what is in them to make it easy to find stuff and all neat and tidy.

She probabaly had ikea boxes - then they can stack on top of each other when you need more.

This was something we struggled with until we discovered pins in cork boards!

Well it isn't so much as a cork board but a whole big piece of cork that fitted on the back of the door.

It has nails sticking out and all the stock is hung in order on there in hygienically sealed bags (for allergy reasons) but your could just use little grip seal bags.

It was a real revalation to us and has made our lives a million times easier!

I've tried various ways including hanging each item from my candelabra in the dining room certainly looks pretty lol. Now I place each piece into an organza bag which is see throughable enough to be able to recognise each piece and that works well as they don't get tangled up with each other and stops them knocking each other too. I send them out in the organza bags too so saves time on packaging. I store them all in a wooden Ikea box drawers which are easy to take out to fairs and parties. I'm sure its not the best way but it's working at the moment, I'd be interested to see what everyone else does too.

Thanks hun!

We've got all the individual pieces in resealable plastic bags and then we put them into clear storage containers, but that's not working very well anymore. LOL

Might have a look at Ikea and see what they've got.

See right now I've got each piece in a little grip seal bag and labeled up. Then the small bags are put into bigger grip seal bags (by category) and then put into a clear storage box, but I'm fast running out of room. LOL

Might have a look at IKEA to see what they have storage box wise.

I bet it looked pretty!!

We've got each individual item in the grip seal bags they go out in and then each type of item is put into a bigger grip seal bag (so I end up having to empty the bag to find the one item I need to pack LOL), and then they are stored in a clear plastic container - but it's overflowing and isn't working so well anymore.

The idea of the box drawers is a good idea - might have a look at IKEA to see what they have.

I was thinking of maybe trying a set of plastic drawers - like you'd find in a tool shed - then just putting the items in those.

Argh it's so confusing isn't it knowing how best to store things! One thing might work for awhile and then you need to find another way. LOL

I have got a couple of large air tight boxes that the jewellery is stored in. The fashion jewellery is in a plastic sealable bag and placed in one box, the handcrafted jewellery is in organza bags and stored in a separate box. The silver jewellery is in boxes and in the box with the handcrafted jewellery. I also have a draw unit that I got from IKEA for my jewellery making equipment.

Yes that is what we did until we came acrosst he cork board idea. The little plastic bags are hung by style and in size order on the same nail.

We used to have it hung on the back of a door, but now it is hung on a wall in the new office.

I will try to remember to bring the camera in to the office and take a picture for you.

This system works really well because we can see at a glance what stock we have in and we no longer have to hunt through boxes or little draws (tried that too) to find the right thing.

You've given me an idea of instead of hooks maybe having something with pockets - but then I'd need to find some place to hang the storage unit and we haven't told the IL's about Delicate Dreams. LOL

I've got loads of ideas though so I will just try various methods until I find the best one for us. :D

I have got a tower with drawers in it. It's made of strong plastic and has wheels, so I can move it around. Each drawer houses different stages of construction, i.e. two hold clay and tools, one beads and findings, one finished items. The finished items are placed in individual sealed plastic bags. This works for me at the moment.

Thankfully I just have to worry about stock from suppliers. LOL Each piece is in it's own resealable little grip bag and then I've sort of divided them up by kind into bigger bags, and then the bigger bags are inside a storage box - but there's not enough room in it anymore. LOL

Might see about some airtight boxes - where did you get yours from?

I wish I had room for a tower with drawers - it'd be handy. LOL I just need something to store stock from suppliers in - so thankfully atm it's not loads of storage place I need, but maybe one day. :D

I might see if I can find something like you've described though just to see what the costs would be for the space we do have etc.

Thank you!

I got mine in a local shop. But I know you can get them in loads of places e.g Argos, B&Q. Some are designed for kids bedrooms to put all their toys in. They cost between 15-30 pounds.
