nope and dunno, dp did attempt a wormery for fishing and had babies, i bought some plastic worms from ELC and put them in the top, they were massive, it was soo funny when he next looked at the wormery and saw these big worms sticking out, didnt take much notice after that... am i waffling.. oh well
:cheesy:
i just waste so much food. i can;t compost my cooked food waste in the normal composter. if my kids won't eat it. the worms might aswell!

We have a cone shaped thing that we had to half bury in the ground which had like a sort of black laundry basket on the bottom to keep any foxes out and you put cooked food, even whole carcasses in there and they rot down, is that the same thing.

we have a compost bin and it is now also filled with worms and other creepy crawlies. I stay as far away from it as poss. I'm not sure if my OH put the worms, etc in or they jost appeared, I suppose he must have. Eventually he uses the compost on his veggies!

yeah ive seen them, but for £62 and our council say there is no demad for them so they don't offer a discount. id prefer one of them tbh.
they offer a wormery, thats like a normal compost bin but i think it has trays inside shrugshoulders111
oh and it produces a liquid rather than solid

Whassat - we have a spare if you live anywhere near Hull, our council give them away. they look like daleks now. Sadly ours was a previous tun, cost £5 or £10 and is a boring shape. Can put all waste in, inc torn up card/paper.
just seen the Bokashi....wonder if thats the same??

perhaps cos it was from the council it didn't come with any instructions so we just put everything in. We're veggie so never any meat waste. One of my OH's friends is a bit of a boffin on environmental stuff and he gave advice. Why wouldn't you put cooked food in? I asked DP and the worms just appeared, so must have come up from the soil that it sits on. It's wriggling away when you take the lid off, I'm not very keen ... but the worms obviously are. We don't throw any food stuff away at all, all in there.

We're supposed to put cooked and raw food in our compost bin for the bin men to collect - I don't though - awful as it sounds, but I can't stick the number of maggots that end up infesting the bin, nor do I want them near the kids. Funny how different things are just up the road eh!

the ordinary compost (dalek like) bins and wormeries are different. I've got a composter, and although it has some worms in, you can't put cooked food in (I think cause it may attract rats, eek!).
There are lots of different wormeries here- Wiggly Wigglers (http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk/shop/category.html?activecategory_id=1&-session=shopper:519EDF2E13950194C4PKFE39231E) they look really good! looking at that site, it seems that you can put cooked waste in them.

A wormery is different to a compost bin. They have several layers and as the worms munch on the food it drops through the layers of the bin.

Not got one but it's on my list of things to get
and I was going to post the link chiggs did, but she beat me to it
wormeries and compost bins work in different ways, they are not the same, as has been said above, you can even get worktop sized wormeries for in your kitchen and they don't smell
