I travelled down to Birmingham yesterday tea time and had to tell my to five year olds mammy was popping out for twenty minutes, otherwise they would cry.I did tell the truth at first and Anya became so upset I said ok Mammy will come back in 20 minutes.
When I got home tonight my husband said they were fine all day but when I popped in their room to check on them, they were still awake, and said Mammy why did you not want to come home . we missed you.We don't want you to go away again in their most pitiful voices with puppy dog eyes.
Why is it they know how to make you feel so guilty and bad,And why is is when my husband goes away they couldn't care less and don't even notice?

My DD would happly let me go away, but she misses her Dad like mad. I am banished from the school run today because he has the day off, which is a shame as its the last day of term and I want to see *my* friends too.

Awwww, They definately know how to pull on those heart strings ....

I had the reverse, DH and I had a wonderful week away earlier this year and MIL moved into our house to look after the twins (7) whilst we were away, when we got back they were really upset that Granny was going home, they had had such a lovely time with her .... Talk about feel redundant!!!! ... still glad that they had had a lovely time too!!

Same here, my two know that they are staying with Nanny and Grandad when I have the baby. I told DS that it would be two or three nights, he wants to stay for four or five!

My husband's away quite a bit and the kids are used to it now althought they moan a bit sometimes. I told them I was going to be away for a few days in hospital a little while ago and they all looked really shocked and the youngest said "But you never go away!". I think they'd appreciate me a bit more if I went away more often!

well they didn't miss me last night, they slept at my mums for the first time and had a whale of a time!
She had bought the high school musical ready beds and when I went to pick them up they wanted to stay a bit longer! Kids eh, its ok for them to stop out but not mummy!
