As the mother of an 11 yo who has just taken her sats, I'm thoroughly disgusted by this!

FFS a waitress cum cleaner marking the exams papers - when she went for a job at the hotel as a waitress and was offered a job as an exam marker instead.

I'm so annoyed about this, truly I am.

well I'm afriad that's what you get when people try to ave money by outourcing important things to the lowest bidder, in this case a crapy america company who obviously don't give a hit about quality.

Trouble is, is ANYONE in this county prepared to accept some taxes should be raised to pay for the next generations education, sadly I think not.

And I know someone will now post something about the stealth taxes/highest taxes ever myth, please do, I'd love to demolish your arguments

Sats tests are only a way of measuring whether the school is up to standard. I wouldn't take too much notice of it. They keep saying they're going to stop Sats soon anyway.

My 14 yo is still waiting for his results. These are the results which will put him into correct groupings for his options and GCSE's which he starts taking next year. We aren't going to receive his results until Sept, so to say I'm furious about it is an understatement. All of the papers are apparently going to be sent back for review which is going to delay things even further and this could really affect the first couple of terms back at school, in what will be the most important 2 yrs of his "normal" school life.

I'm furious!

I am in the same situation as you Emsickle, our school told us that they will send the results out during the summer holidays but I bet we don't get them until they return to school. Would have been nice to know what sets they were in. We promised DS2 an Apple laptop if he did well with his SATs, so he is very disappointed that he has to wait to get the results.

This is the thing - these tests might just be to see how schools are faring, but they are also used for setting children into the correct groupings for KS4 - DS1 was looking at an 8M for his Maths and judging by some of the markings that have been publicised, I wonder what on earth they are going to mark him as. We'd promised him great things for great results, but we now aren't going to find anything out till September, already DS's school have decided to reorganise the tutor groups, so he is going to be starting all over again, without any clue of which groups/classes he is going to be in for his core subjects - I just hope the school use a little common sense (which they don't appear to have tbh) and place him in the groups related to his previous work and not just on these still awaited results.

My DS1 has just received his SATS results.

In ICT, he received a Merit, a Merit, a Merit and a Pass, leveling out at a Level 5. His friend received 3 passes and a merit and received a level 6 - although these were teacher assessed and not related to the above problem, he will be asking his tutor about this today.

I have received a letter from DS1's school saying that teachers have seen mistakes in the papers received, so all results are to be taken as provisional.

Such a nightmare!
