Is 40 a special birthday???

It will be my 40th birthday early Feb and I'm not sure if I should see it as special one. I know most people seem to make a big thing of it.

We are going to Funny Girls for a night out with friends but have just had to buy a new tumble dryer (cryingsmil ) so Dh can't really get me anything too expensive. Told him I have everything I want :no: apart from a lovely diamond ring :laugh:
Said that he shouldn't go mad, I think I mean it.

I've never had a special birthday, but DH did, when he was 29. He got a son as his birthday present!

i think people put to much pressure into what they think they should buy, 40 is special, and it can be as special as you wish to make it, as for your dh spending lots of money, your right its not needed, i turned 24 in december, and i had a horrid birthday, all i really wanted was for dp to give me my bday gifts or even for them to have been wrapped up, instead i got a text message telling me they were hid in the car, and if i wanted them to go and get them!!!

do what you want to do, write a list and give it to your dh, at least he would have some idea, and can make it special ""cutey""b

Yes I DO think ur 40th is special, we did a surprise party 4 sil on hers.

It IS special, you dont have to spend loads though. Try and get a babysitter and habve a special night to yourselves at home with a lovely meal

Dh still keeps asking me what I want, doh, he has had a year to plan or think about what to get me. I give up with him. All the relatives are clubbing together to get me a new Kenwood Chef :hysterica , a couple for us are going to Funny Girls in Blackpool and I'm really looking forward to that, just hope I can express enough for Dd. Haven't tried her with a bottle yet, so got to get going with it. Am trying to not stress out about birthday and will enjoy my night out without the kids.

As for Dh and a pressie, he may have got his act together by then, if not :hissyfit:
