I'm passionate about scrapbooking. Started off by making cards 8 years ago and took up scrapbooking 5 years ago. I'm now lucky enough to be teaching both subjects at a local craft studio and also at home as well as running a crop at home.
I'm making a small 7"x7" album for my Dads 70th birthday at the moment with a page for every 10 years of his life. Apart from the love of actually making the book I have learnt so much about my Dad that I didn't know. Mum has emailed me loads of photo's, the youngest being 4 years and it's amazing to see all the things he did from driving from Romford to Cornwall with Mum on her motor bike, a Thunderbird 650 when I'd had to spend a year convincing them that I wasn't going to crash and kill myself on a motor bike lol to the fact that in about half of the photo's he is holding a camera. (He has been a proffesional photographer all his life from Fleet Street to owning his own studio as a portrait and wedding photographer.
I hope that Dad gets alot out of this book because I feel that it's brought me closer to him in many ways.

i have done the starts of a scrapbook for sil when she had my nephew, but that was just adding the decoration bits, so she could add the photo's and all them, i would love to do one, but i always think mine look awfull, i know they are huge things in america, i like my card making, i really enjoy it,
to help me alon a bit i have just signed up for that new crafts magazine "creative papercraft" which gives you hints and tips, but only time will tell,
i love looking at scrapbooks that people have made, i think there is so much love in them, and they're amazing:happy72: :clapping:

I'm just about to start making a scrapbook about my girls. Have been looking at websites & in magazines & have been amazed at the different stuff you can do!!It looks like quite an expensive hobby though, when you look at the different equipment you could get! Could anyone give me some info on the basic equipment I would need?

Hi Lisa.
Sorry I took so long to answere your query. Hopefully i've posted a photo on here of a layout that I did of my daughter. It's a really simple layout and cost me around £4.50 with many bits and pieces left over for another layout.
There are loads of things that you can buy but there are also loads of things that you can do with just a steel ruler and a craft knife and a few sheets of paper. In the shop I work in the 12x12" papers cost on average 65p each. This layout was done using 3 different sheets of paper, a pack of mini brads (with lot left over) some little sequin type flowers and the wording was typed on the computer, printed out then I cut it out and stuck it on, you could also print it onto accetate but it takes so long to dry.
Good luck and I'd love to see some of your layouts soon.
Love Kate.

Hi Kate, The layout is gorgeous!! Hopefully mine will look half that good. I went to my local craft shop today & bought a 'kit', that contained a 4"x4" album, papers, stickers, embellishments etc. I thought I'd start with that & make one for my OH for Valentines, at least all the bits are there so I dont have to try & buy things that match!! Will see how it goes & if it looks ok, will try & post some pics for you (if I can figure out how to do it!!)
Thanks for the advice!!
Love Lisa.

I am just in the start of card making... trying to gather bits together but going to start properly once we move to the mainland. I also want to start scrapbooking with Ruben as he gets older... doing one for our holidays or days out or birthdays etc. It seems very rewarding.
I think your dad would love the scrapbook you are making... it soumds wonderful. (My step-dad used to own a BSA Thunderbird 650... reconditioned it etc)

I had a go a couple of weeks ago at a guiding leaders 'try-it' day. It was so easy!! Does want to make me have another go (only had a chance to sort out a basic book). I was really scared of giving it a go before - but even me who hasn't got a creative bone in my body - made something that actually looked good!

Wilkinsons are opening locally in March (thank god, have been waiting for one to open nearer to me for ages!), I tend to go to Hobbycraft, but its quite expensive, or a small scrapbooking shop just up the road, saying that Partners (stationers) have started selling scrapbooking & cardmaking stuff & its all on 3for 2 at the mo. (thats where OH got my stuff from!) Also Poundland sometimes do some stickers etc. Early Learning are starting to sell scrapbooking kits for kids but I think mine are too young at the mo!!
